Public Talk: BLACK HOLES – SCIENCE FICTION OR REALITY?

Stefan Gillessen (斯特凡·吉尔森)

Stefan  Gillessen is a senior researcher at the Max-Plank-Institute for  extraterrestrial physics, working since 20 years in the group of Nobel  prize winner Reinhard Genzel.

Nearly  all the Science fiction literature needs black holes. If not using such  gravity monster, how else can one tunnel through space and time in less  than a second?

Are black holes science fiction then? or Are they real? What exactly is a black hole?

This  talk explains, what scientists think a black hole might be, how they  could form and how they can be observed. Especially for the last point a  lot has happened in the last years - using modern, large telescopes. Be  ready for exciting discoveries and a Nobel prize!
