Metric reconstruction as a solver for black holes in Effective Field Theory extensions of Einstein's relativity

General relativity is often regarded as the low-energy limit of quantum gravity. It is natural to consider the effective field theory of gravity by adding higher-derivative corrections to the Einstein-Hilbert action. We solve for rotating black hole solutions in higher-derivative extensions of general relativity using metric reconstruction, a powerful method for constructing perturbed solutions for rotating black holes. In this talk, we demonstrate the metric reconstruction procedure by constructing the first analytic spinning black hole solution in even-parity cubic gravity. This establishes a new route to construct spinning black holes beyond Einstein gravity and lays the foundation for strong-field tests.
