Ruobing Dong Visits KIAA

Dr. Ruobing Dong

Prof. Ruobing Dong will visit KIAA as a Kavli Visiting Scholar from July 11.

Prof. Dong, an assistant professor at the University of Victoria in Canada, is a global leader in research of planet formation.  He combines simulations of the observational signatures of planet formation with real observations from leading observatories, including ALMA, VLT/SPHERE, Gemini/GPI, Subaru/HiCIAO, and VLA.

Prof. Dong graduated from Peking University with a bachelor's degree in 2008 and then received his Ph.D. degree from Princeton University in 2013.  After his PhD, he won the prestigious NASA Hubble Fellowship, which supported postdoctoral studies at UC Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory from 2013 to 2016, and then subsequently won a prestigious Bok Fellowship at the University of Arizona from 2016-2018.  After arriving at University of Victoria, he was awarded the highly competitive Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Research Fellowship in 2020 for his outstanding research in the field of observational planet formation.
