2026 CSST Galaxy and AGN Summer Forum Held at KIAA

The Kavli Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics (KIAA) at Peking University hosted the 2026 Chinese Space-station Survey Telescope (CSST) Galaxy and Active Galactic Nucleus (AGN) Forum on 1st – 2nd October 2026. More than 60 experts, scholars and students from multiple universities and institutes across China attended the forum. The forum aims to share the latest outcomes and progress of different CSST early-science research groups in the field of galaxy and AGN, strengthen communication and collaboration between different groups, and promote integration between different research directions in the field of galaxies and AGN.

The forum topic focused on galaxy multi-wavelength surveys, galaxy ecosystems, and small-scale structures, AGN and dual blackholes, as well as galaxy survey data reduction software. During the forum, members of different research groups introduced their recent progress and findings in terms of key scientific problems in multi-wavelength galaxy studies, AGN, supermassive dual blackhole merger and galaxy ecosystem, galaxy observables measurement software and small-scale structures. Thorough and deep topic discussions on CSST data scientific investigation, mock data, data reduction software and data products are also conducted.

CSST is scheduled to launch in 2027, with state-of-the-art capabilities in wide-field imaging and spectroscopy at high angular resolution. Researchers across China, including at the CSST PKU Science Center, are now preparing to analyze and interpret data.  This forum helps to  strengthen communication and collaboration between different research groups and to provide a solid foundation for future efficient scientific analyses and production of high-quality, innovative scientific results, therefore playing a positively supportive role in fostering the achievement of scientific goals for CSST.
