The Upcoming 4MOST Spectroscopy Survey: Current Status, Key Sciences and Operations

Abstract:

The 4-meter Multi-Object Spectroscopic Telescope (4MOST) is an upcoming optical spectroscopic instrument that will survey the southern hemisphere. The instrument includes both median and high resolution (R~5000 & R~20000) with a broad wavelength coverage. The first light is expected in 2022. In this talk, I will briefly introduce the current status of the instrument, selected key science projects as well as its mock data flow.
