The Xingjiang Qitai Radio Telescope (QTT) is now officially in the planning phase. It is designed to be a fully steerable 110-m single dish telescope capable of high frequency observations, to serve the global astronomical community, and to promote the radio astronomical research and technology development in China. This meeting, to be held July 2-3, 2015 in Ming'antu, Inner Mongolia, is co-organized by KIAA faculty Kejia Lee, and is the first in a series to define a clear science program for the QTT.
The science cases for QTT cover a very wide range of topics, from the Moon to black holes, from the stellar nurseries (molecular clouds) to their graveyards (compact stars), from our local neighborhood (planets) to the farthest reaches of the Universe (high redshift galaxies). A clear definition of the science program is essential to drive the design and engineering, and also to make the telescope a cutting-edge scientific instrument. It is absolutely necessary to bring together interested scientists world-wide to plan the detailed science cases for QTT in its design phase.
All interested scientific researchers are cordially invited to join the conference, to discuss, to communicate, to form the collaboration, and to help shaping the QTT science cases.
