I'm interested in stellar dynamics, especially in a galactic context and close to supermassive black holes. To study these systems, I use a variety of techniques ranging from direct N-body simulations to mean-field and statistical approaches. I'm working on methods to perform the complicated computations involved using accelerating hardware such as GPUs.
The image above shows the interesting structure forms when some spherically symmetric and isotropic model of a star cluster collapses and then rebounds; it then exhibits global, decaying, oscillations until it reaches full equilibrium in ~100 dynamical times. The simulation has 1,000,000 particles and was performed using the Multiple Expansion technique on a GPU.
