Research Highlights: 

Dr. Fan is an observational cosmologist. His research focuses on the studies of the most distant galaxies and quasars, and using them as probes of cosmic evolution, especially the questions of: (1) when did the first luminous objects appear in the Universe; (2) when did the first supermassive black holes appear in the Universe, (3) what's the relation between the formation of early black holes and their host galaxies, and (4) how did the first generations of galaxies and quasars heat up the intergalactic gas, re-ionize the Universe and end the cosmic dark ages? To answer these questions, Dr. Fan and his research group are carrying out large scale surveys of quasars and galaxies using data from SDSS, CFHT and PanStarrs, as well as follow-up observations using LBT, Keck, HST and ALMA. 


樊晓晖为观测宇宙学家。他的研究主要集中在寻找宇宙中最遥远的星系和类星体,并利用它们作为探测宇宙的早期演化。主要研究课题包括:(1)宇宙中第一批天体何时出现(2)宇宙中第一批超大黑洞何时出现 ,(3)早期超大黑洞黑洞和其宿主星系如何共同演化,和(4)第一代星系和类星体如何再电离宇宙星系际介质,结束宇宙黑暗时代。 樊晓晖领导的研究小组主要利用SDSS, CFHT, PansStarrs等巡天数据进行大尺度星系和类星体巡天,以使用LBT,Keck,HST和ALMA等做后续观测。
