Title: Machine Learning and Automated Analysis of Strong Gravitational Lensing Systems

Gravitational lensing has become one of the most powerful tools available for investigating the ‘dark side’ of the Universe. We have developed an image simulation pipeline, PICS (Pipeline for Images of Cosmological Strong lensing), to generate realistic strong lensing signals from group- and cluster-scale lenses. On the other hand, with the capabilities of next-generation telescopes, first with LSST, and then Euclid and WFIRST, astrophysics and cosmology are stepping into the big data era. There will be billions of objects. For the automated identification and analysis of strong lenses in such enormous datasets, we build programs by connecting the PICS and machine learning approaches (including traditional machine learning and deep learning).See speaker
