Evolution of galaxies as traced by stellar populations

According to hierarchical galaxy formation scenario, the formation and evolution of galaxies are mainly driven by mergers/interactions. The effects of these mergers/interactions would have  imprinted in their stellar populations. Hence stellar populations are excellent tools to study galaxy evolution. In the first part of my talk I will present our studies of resolved stellar populations in Magellanic System, one of the nearest interacting system of galaxies, to understand its structure and interaction history. In the second part of my talk I will briefly present our on-going studies of integrated stellar populations in bulge dominated Low Surface Brightness galaxies to address their formation scenario.
